Surplus Salon Exhibition
The Solution:
There is often an awkward gap between thematic exhibitions as spaces transition between them. Yet galleries used to just cover every inch of a wall in salon hanging and never rotate their work. To solve this need at the Gallery and inspired by the rough and ready history of displaying art Surplus Salon was born. I aimed to reflect the hanging style even in the form of the brand identity while maintaining the gallery’s and MIAD’s brand guidelines. The short window of display made the social media communication surrounding the exhibition crucial, so I applyed the branding to an animation and accredited all the artists in a post.
